Maslow’s Hierarchy of Human Needs

NEEDS are essential requirements or desires that are necessary for our the well-being, survival, or fulfillment.

Needs can be physical, psychological, emotional, social, or spiritual in nature, and they vary in intensity and importance from person to person.
Needs drive our behavior and motivate us to take actions aimed at satisfying them.

Knowing and meeting our true needs contributes to our overall health, happiness, and sense of fulfillment.

I think it is quite important to be able to differentiate between needs, wants, and wishes:

**Needs**:

– Needs are essential requirements for survival, well-being, and functioning.
– They are necessary for maintaining physical, psychological, emotional, social, or spiritual health.
– Failure to meet needs can result in adverse consequences such as physical harm, emotional distress, or social isolation.

**Wants**:

– Wants are desires that are not essential for survival but contribute to comfort, enjoyment, or satisfaction.
– They are often influenced by personal preferences, cultural norms, and societal influences.

**Wishes**:

– Wishes are desires or aspirations that may or may not be achievable or realistic.
– They often involve hopes for future outcomes or experiences.
– Wishes can be grand or small-scale and may reflect long-term goals or fleeting desires.
– While wishes may inspire motivation and goal-setting, they do not necessarily correspond to immediate needs or tangible wants.

Abraham Maslow explored the role that our needs play as motivators and drivers of much of our behavior and action in life.

Personally, i dont totally agree with Maslow’s “hierarchical” thinking, but it is interesting and helpful for getting to know ourself better, to think honestly about what our needs are.
And which kind of needs drive us.

I invite you to play with this little app for a while, contemplate your true needs.

p.s. Please don’t take it all too serious please.

Its not about “which needs are better than other needs” or anything like that.

I made those “games” specifically for a few of my clients who have a hard time to express clearly what is going on in their inner worlds. Because simply very often we lack a vocabulary to say what is what. To differentiate and express the nuances.

This is the first aim:

Expand awareness and develop a vocabulary for emotions, values, believes, qualities, needs.

And by doing those games, reflect and come in contact with those realities of your Self.
And find out what kind of importance they have in your life.

We all have a hierarchy of needs, mostly unconscious.

Those games are simple invitations to think about this things more actively than maybe just reading about it in a book.
