When i walk out of my house in the morning
i embrace the day with the whole of my being
i let my skin feel the sun, the warmth
or the breeze, the wind from the sea
i let my soles feel the dirt, the wet of it after a night-rain,
the hotness of the dry season
i smell the special smell of salt water in the air,
the breeze coming from the sea
and i lift my eyes to take in the blue,
the flawless sky
and the vultures circling up there,
looking for prey
the small yellow butterflies all around me
the green, the green beautiful
i let in the sounds of the village
laughter from the neighborhood kids
Bob Marley on a radio in the distance
and most of all, the silent hum of nature on this tropical morning
and then when i walk into the bay, the ocean sounds are lifting my emotions
i answer with joy
uplifted again
by a new
morning
