hope can be crushed
it has been crushed
hope for a better life
hope for freedom of expression
the freedom to choose
what you think
and what you say
hope to be able to come and go
as you choose
hope to be a free citizen of the world
hope can be crushed
but it never dies
it just goes underground
and there hope lives on
in the hearts and minds of the dreamers,
the artists, the non-conformists,
the writers and philosophers
and of course in the hearts of the ever-so-rebellious musicians,
the “Plastic People of the Universe”
hope lives on in people who are not willing to compromise
and when the time is ripe for it
hope springs forth again
breaking thru the crust of conformity
like a plant breaking through a tiny crack in the asphalt,
hope has incredible powers
and it can move things that seem un-move-able
it can make people do incredible things
transcend their fear
defiantly face oppression
raise the fist
speak out
and be ready to be crushed again
endure
wait for the spring to finally come
hope springs
hope sings
hope never dies
Good that you remind us of these important stories, important developments.
I cherish the bit of contact I’ve been privileged to have with these folks.
The irrepressible upsurge of free spirits is so moving, so brave.
And now in this freedom they must face crazy capitalism.
Arguably better than dealing with troops and tanks.
Deep bow to the flow of life and hope.
Thanks, dear roving reporter.
