But falling they did.

… brought down during the Global Financial Crisis of 2007 by the boundless greed and reckless gambling with people’s money by the money managers, brokers and directors of some of the biggest banks and financial institutions on earth.

 

• The Decline of Democracy
  

… brought to us by the reckless Grab for Power by the likes of Donald Trump & Co and their autocratic counterparts in Europe and Asia.

This will probably be the last straw for the World Order as we know it to stumble (or tremble) and finally fall.

And the whole world is watching with an almost perverse fascination what the next tantrum of that MadDonnald will be.

 

 

But in my perspective, behind those obvious forces of destruction there are things more severely damaging and dismantling for the psyche of humanity at work.

 

 

• The elimination of decent, informed and thorough journalistic reporting by the News Media (Newspapers & TV)

… brought to us by such ones like Facebook News, Breitbart News, Gawker and lookalikes.

The so called New Media which is actually more often than not like in-group talk, pushing self-perpetuation, trend-ing views of events into the online world without much consideration for deep research or actual fact finding.

Just blast it out into the net quick … and on to the next big thing.

All for the sake of maximizing viewers/clicks.

 

• The decline of Language, of the way people communicate, talk and think

… brought by SMS, Twitter, Audio Messaging and a whole host of  technology that promotes the “short form” of expression.

And of course, the curse of Americans who manage to put 5 “its like .. this, its like … that” and 10 “oh my god!” into one sentence .

All of that, over time resulting in a thinning-out of language vocabulary, a widespread inability to talk in long form and to speak deliberately and to communicate in a self-reflective manner.

To actually listen what you actually say ; )

I think that this trend ultimately destroys the ability of the brain to form clear mental pictures and establish a coherent context of events.

… all for the sake of perpetuating short concentration span, attention deficit syndrome, haste, boredom or simple mindlessness.

 

• And last but not least, the destruction of the age-old ice shields of Greenland, the Arctics and Antarctica

… brought about by the  ignorance, lack of knowledge and general inertia of the masses of us human beings who obviously do not think for “The 7 Generations to come after us”.

 

 

I know, my little rant here sounds pretty dark and depressing.

Pretty much like the Apocalypse is around the corner.

The descent into Chaos is here!

 

 Well … we definitely could have all the reasons necessary to be frightened.

 

But just the same we could see all of that as signs for hope!

 

HOPE

 

Because nothing truly new can appear as long as the space is occupied by some old thing.

Some thing that has already outlived its time and became obsolete.

And … obsolete the “Western Civilization as we know it” already is, obviously!

Otherwise the human world and the collective consciousness would not be in such a state of convoluted mess ; )

 

Yes!
